Believe
Thing2’s chorus teacher, apparently mindful of the potential impact of current events on his students, shared with them a song that had been discovered in the barracks at one of the concentration camps after World War II. I’m printing it up for my bulletin board:“I believe in the suneven when it is not shiningAnd I believe in love, even when there’s no one there. And I believe in God,even when he is silent.I believe through any trial, there is always a wayBut sometimes in this sufferingand hopeless despairMy heart cries for shelter,to know someone’s thereBut a voice rises within me, saying hold onmy child, I’ll give you strength,I’ll give you hope. Just stay a little while.I believe in the suneven when it is not shiningAnd I believe in loveeven when there’s no one thereBut I believe in Godeven when he is silentI believe through any trialthere is always a way.May there someday be sunshineMay there someday be happinessMay there someday be loveMay there someday be peace….”– Uknown
